8 Reasons Why Most Christians are Financially Broke Series - Part 2
We started talking last week about why most Christians are financially broke.
Reason #7:
Most Christians don’t support each other.
I was running some errands today, and remembered that I forgot to get something from the health food store. I usually patronize a Christian-owned health food store, but I forgot to go there and was closer to a non-Christian-owned one. I thought about going to the non-Christian one, but remembered that we as Christians should support each other as much as possible.
By this I mean that we need to seek out Christian businesses and support them; then when we build our businesses, I believe that God will bless us:
“Whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone, especially to our Christian brothers and sisters.“ - Galatians 6:10 (emphasis mine)
Now let’s get real: have I been “burned” by some Christian businesses? Yes, but I’ve been burned by some non-Christian businesses too! That didn’t stop me from going to non-Christian businesses, and it isn’t going to stop me from going to the seeminigly-reputable Christian ones that I can find.
So let’s stop downloading and burning Christian music that we don’t pay for (it doesn’t help the artist, writer, etc.), and let’s start supporting our local Christian bookstore, etc. Let’s make an effort to support those advertisers on Christian radio and television and in the Christian “yellow pages” - or on the Internet!
